I've enjoyed many a JCVD movie over the years, both big budget and less so, but Kill 'Em All is just dull and staged in a lacklustre manner. In terms of plot and staging, the film, in trying to be clever and homage-like, flits hither and yon when it just needed to be a four-to-the-floor mayhem-fest. Sadly, post John Wick, this film's gunplay looks flat and it lacks impact, and Jean-Claude just looks like he would rather be doing something else (although Peter Stormare tries to get into the spirit of things). JCVD has made ropey films before (Exhibit A: Derailed), but they were still fun, however, Kill 'Em All is not fun at all, just dispiriting.
